About Us

We provide emotional, mental, economical and physical support to families throughout your pregnancy journey, birthing experience and during the early stages with your new addition.

We seek to reduce isolation and loneliness that has been caused during the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a supportive online and in-person platform.

We are also here to raise awareness of key issues during pregnancy, such as pre/postnatal depression, post traumatic birth disorder symptoms and its impact whilst reducing the stigma attached to enhance their mental wellness.

Covid-19 has changed the experience for many pregnant women impacting them psychologically with some maternity services being closed due to staffing issues. For black women, the risk of pregnancy complications has always been higher with a mortality rate 5 times higher than women from other demographics.

The risk of deaths was 1 in 2,500 for black women between 2014 and 2016 according to the UK Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths and these statistics still have not changed.

Obaapa Helps are here to provide support to BAME families in London, especially families who have been affected by Covid-19.
